Our editorial approach
Every guide on this site is written by a human editor working from hands-on testing, vendor documentation, and primary-source research. We do not republish AI-generated reviews, and we do not summarise other people's articles. When we cite a price, a feature, or a benchmark, we link the source or note the date we verified it.
We focus on comparisons that matter: which tool actually fits a specific workflow, what the real cost looks like once you account for usage limits, and where each product genuinely shines or falls short. We are sceptical of marketing claims by default and verify them where we can.
How we evaluate tools
For each tool we review, we work through a consistent process:
- Hands-on testing. We use the tool on real tasks representative of its target audience — drafting an article, generating images for a brief, writing code for a small feature, building a budget, drafting a contract clause.
- Pricing verification. We check pricing pages directly on the publication date and note the date in the article. Pricing changes frequently, and we update our pricing breakdowns as we discover changes.
- Feature comparison. We compare features using the vendor's own documentation, supplemented by hands-on verification of the features that matter most for the use case.
- Trade-offs and honest cons. Every review includes the things we did not like or the situations where the tool does not fit. If we cannot find meaningful trade-offs, we keep digging.
